March 19 Deadline for Interim Property Taxes & Vacant Unit Tax Declarations

Island Park Drive residents are reminded that the deadline for interim property tax payments and Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declarations is one month away — Thursday, March 19, 2026. Meeting the deadline helps avoid unnecessary charges and keeps your property tax account in good standing.



Interim Property Tax Payments

If interim property taxes are not paid by March 19, a 1.25% penalty will be added starting the day after the due date. This penalty will continue to be applied to the outstanding balance on the first day of each month until paid.




Ways to Pay Your Interim Property Tax

The City offers several convenient payment options:

  • Online by payment card: https://ottawa.ca/paytax

  • Pre-authorized debit plan (for future billings)

  • Through your financial institution (online or telephone banking)

  • By mail

  • In person at any City of Ottawa Client Service Centre

Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) Declarations

All homeowners are required to submit a Vacant Unit Tax declaration — even if your property is occupied.

The deadline to submit your declaration is also March 19, 2026.

Late declarations are subject to a $250 late fee.
