Happy Halloween from the Island Park Community Association

The ghosts and goblins are out once again, and our neighbourhood is ready to celebrate! Tonight, Island Park Drive and the surrounding streets will come alive with the laughter of trick-or-treaters, glowing pumpkins, and a touch of Halloween magic. Whether you’re heading out with your little ones, welcoming visitors at your door, or just enjoying the festive atmosphere, the Island Park Community Association wishes everyone a fun and safe evening.

Trick-or-Treating Tips

For families venturing out, a few simple precautions can make the night both exciting and secure:

  • Be visible. Add reflective tape to costumes or carry glow sticks and flashlights. Even on familiar streets, visibility helps drivers see you in the dark.

  • Stay together. Young children should always be accompanied by an adult or responsible older sibling.

  • Plan your route. Stick to well-lit areas and avoid crossing mid-block—use sidewalks and crosswalks wherever possible.

  • Check treats. Save the candy feast for home, and inspect all goodies before eating.

For Drivers

Halloween is one of the busiest nights of the year for pedestrian traffic. Please drive slowly and stay alert—children may dart across the street unexpectedly. Turn your headlights on early, put away your phone, and take extra care on narrow residential roads like ours.

For Homeowners

If you’re handing out treats, help make your home inviting and safe:

  • Keep paths, steps, and porches well-lit and clear of obstacles.

  • Use battery-operated candles instead of open flames in pumpkins.

  • If you’re out for the evening, consider leaving your porch light off to signal that no one’s home.

Community Spirit

Halloween is one of the few nights when everyone—neighbours young and old—comes together in celebration. It’s a great opportunity to meet new residents, enjoy the creativity of costumes, and remind our children what makes Island Park such a warm, welcoming community.

On behalf of the Island Park Community Association, thank you to everyone helping make tonight memorable and safe.

From our board to your doorstep—Happy Halloween! Stay bright, stay kind, and have a frightfully good time!
