On October 1, three shortlisted design concepts—Echo, Rendez vous, and Motion—were presented to the National Capital Commission (NCC) Board of Directors. After a comprehensive evaluation process that included numerous elements, feedback from the public, stakeholders, Indigenous communities and partners, we would like to share that the NCC Board of Directors granted an initial Federal Land Use and Design Approval for Motion, the preferred concept for the replacement of the Alexandra Bridge.
Preferred concept
The preferred concept draws its inspiration from the natural flow of the river. Its design is expressed in two structures, whose fluid lines undulate on either side, evoking movement.

The next round of public consultation on the bridge’s reference design is scheduled for 2025.
